TABC Launches New Open Records Center to Assist Public With Obtaining Agency Records

AUSTIN – A new system for receiving and responding to Public Information Act requests will allow the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to better serve the public by increasing transparency and efficiency.

TABC's Open Records Center goes live this week, and will enable members of the public to submit their requests 24/7, update and track existing requests, and download requested records.

"This upgrade furthers government transparency and accountability," said Clark Smith, TABC General Counsel. "The new system will give us the ability to respond to Public Information Act requests more quickly and efficiently, while helping us to better track the data that's being requested."

The new system will also help TABC assess the costs associated with processing requests in accordance with the Public Information Act.
