TABC Announces Appointment of Major Cathleen Cavazos to Oversee Austin Regional Office
AUSTIN – The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has appointed Major Cathleen Cavazos as Regional Enforcement Supervisor for the Austin Regional Office. The Austin office covers TABC's Region 4, which includes Austin and Central Texas.
Cavazos succeeds Major Victor Kuykendoll, who was promoted to Chief of Law Enforcement in October. She previously served as Enforcement Supervisor for TABC's Arlington Regional Office.
"Cathleen has served with TABC for nearly 15 years, and in that time she's worked at locations all across Texas," said Robert Saenz, TABC Deputy Executive Director for Enforcement. "That wealth of experience and perspective made her an outstanding leader in Arlington, and I know she'll be a great fit here in Austin."
Cavazos has been a state employee for more than 20 years, beginning her career as a parole officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. After joining TABC, she worked as an agent in Amarillo, Lubbock, Austin and Abilene before earning promotion to Sergeant in Odessa in 2008. She was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015, then to Major overseeing the Arlington Regional Office in 2017. Cavazos has served on numerous TABC boards and panels, and as instructed at numerous New Agent Academies.
Cavazos is a graduate of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, where she earned a degree in Criminal Justice. She's also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
