INDUSTRY NOTICE: Excise Tax Reports & Payments – Late Submissions

TABC Licensed Manufacturers, Distributors, & Wholesalers

THIS INDUSTRY NOTICE IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. IT IS MAINTAINED HERE FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES ONLY.

Requirements: The law requires alcohol manufacturers, wholesalers and brewpubs to submit monthly excise tax reports and payments to TABC on the 15th day of each month. 

Temporary Penalty Relief: *Only applicable for the duration of Gov. Abbott’s March 13 disaster declaration.

In general, TABC will not seek to penalize licensees and permittees for late submissions that were caused by some circumstance outside of their control related to the coronavirus pandemic (e.g., short staffed, etc.). However, TABC will assess whether a business qualifies for penalty relief on a case-by-case basis. 

Contact TABC directly if you will not be able to file your report or submit your payment on time, and the agency will work on providing extensions where necessary.

Note: If your business has a history of late filings, you may not be eligible to receive these exceptions and extensions.
