TABC Education Center
This page provides TABC license and permit holders and their staff with courses they are required to take and optional guidance courses for most license and permit types. We encourage you to learn about the content on this page to ensure you stay in compliance with the law.
Required Courses
Seller/Server Certification
TABC offers seller/server certification to Texas bartenders or employees who sell, serve, or deliver alcohol to consumers. While TABC seller/server certification is not required under state law, it is strongly recommended. Many retailers require certification before employment, and TABC encourages this.
Opioid-Related Drug Overdose Course
Texas law requires the following parties to take this free TABC course on opioid-related drug overdoses each year:
- Mixed Beverage Permit holders and Private Club Permit holders that are not restaurants
- Employees of these permit holders who are also required by the permit holder to complete TABC seller/server certification.
Once you’ve reviewed the course content, confirm that you have fulfilled your legal requirement to complete the course for the year by filling out the Course Completion Certification Form at the end of the course.
Industry Guides
This section includes guides that provide information about the basic responsibilities of TABC licenses and permits. After fully reviewing a guide, submit the online certification form to verify your review.
If you fully review a guide before submitting a TABC license or permit application, we encourage you to include a copy of the completion certificate with your application in the Alcohol Industry Management System (AIMS).
Each course contains several modules. Review each module under your license type
After reviewing your course, submit the online form to certify you completed the course.
