Jo Ann Joseph
Director of Licensing
Jo Ann Joseph became director of the Licensing Division in 2017. She first joined TABC in 1989 as a program specialist in the Bingo Division. In 1994, she transferred with the Bingo Division to the Lottery Commission until 1996. After several years in the private sector as an office accountant manager and tax specialist, she rejoined TABC in 2003 as a program specialist in the Seller Training Division. Joseph was promoted to assistant director of Licensing in 2004.
Joseph supervises five regional licensing supervisors and two headquarters supervisors. She has been involved in strategic planning, Sunset review, legislative analysis, division budgets and many other projects, working collaboratively with all divisions. She has conducted numerous presentations to local authorities about the licensing process. Joseph currently serves as TABC's State Agency Council representative.
Throughout her career in state government, which spans more than 21 years, Joseph has been at the forefront in implementing many changes to application processing. She is an avid supporter of technology and a team approach.
Joseph is a native of Austin and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She holds a Texas broker's license.
