Director of External Affairs
Jared Staples joined TABC in 2017. As director of External Affairs, Jared manages TABC's engagement and relationship with all of its stakeholders and partners. He works closely with the executive director and all division leaders to develop and implement TABC's strategic direction, and to ensure the agency speaks with a consistent voice, appropriately informs stakeholders of TABC activities and policies and proactively solves problems.
Before joining TABC, Jared served as an advisor to both Gov. Rick Perry and Gov. Greg Abbott, responsible for overseeing state policy matters and agencies relating to homeland security, criminal justice, natural resources, contracting, cybersecurity, banking, alcohol and gambling. He also has worked in the Texas Senate for Sen. Kevin Eltife and for the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting.
Jared is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees.
